Things To Do

Our situation right in the heart of Scotland means the Falls of Dochart Inn is the perfect touring base from which to explore East, West, North and South.

Our staff will happily point you towards the haunting scenery of Glen Coe and the dramatic highlands beyond Fort William. Or if you’ d prefer a jaunt to the bright lights, then Edinburgh and Glasgow can be reached easily by car or public transport in around one hour. But you’ ll find that you probably won’ t want to leave Killin at all.

Our cosy Inn is surrounded by vast mountains, tranquil lochs, and breath taking walks and cycle paths, providing the perfect place to indulge in all things outdoors – and keep everyone entertained. Even from the comfort of your room you can marvel at the spectacular Falls of Dochart which tumble dramatically past our windows, and attract swarms of visitors from far and wide.

Our location places just at the top of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. This means you are only a short journey away from the iconic loch. Here you can enjoy a boat ride across its serene waters, and even a visit to the islands that are hidden among the waves. There are plenty of options to suit any budget. While you are in the Trossachs, you should give yourself the opportunity to have an unforgettable outdoor adventure. There are trails galore winding through the glens and up the mountains.

Our little corner of Scotland has so much to offer. You won’t have to worry about being bored, just about how to fit it all in. Or course, you could plan to make another visit. There is plenty of natural beauty to explore. How you do it is up to you. We are at the heart of a network of walking routes. There are some great biking trails as well if that’s how you to prefer to get out and about. Most of the lochs offer boat rides. You can also rent canoes. If you want a less energetic way to see the sights, there are numerous bus tours in the area.

Scotland has a long and proud history, and you can find plenty to explore right here. You can discover relics from the ancient Picts, castles from the 16th century or homes showing the roots of agriculture in the area.

There are a few activities that most people think of when they think about Scotland. These are golf, fishing and whisky tasting. The Dochart Falls Inn is ideally placed for you to enjoy all of these activities. There are plenty of golf courses close by and, for the truly devout, St Andrews is only a short drive away. When it comes to fishing we have Loch Tay on our doorstep, where you can enjoy some fantastic salmon and trout fishing. When it comes to whisky, we have plenty of distilleries for you to explore.
